Food and Travel Guide

There are plenty of travelers who think the whole point of traveling is to eat and drink stuff you wouldn’t eat and drink at home. But even if you’re not a serious foodie traveler, you’ve still got to eat – so it only makes sense to do a little research into what the food options are in the places you’re going. After all, eating what’s local is not only usually more interesting, it’s also often the cheaper options as well.

And beyond the ordinary food travel obsessions that some people have, there are the people for whom eating outside the home is actually risky business – we’re talking here about the folks who have food allergies or food-related illnesses. It’s polite to learn how to say “hello” and “please” in another language, but memorizing the local phrase for “I’m allergic to peanuts” can be a matter of life and death.

So, in this section we cover both the fun side of eating and traveling (including a fun guide to famous alcohol options in different countries, how to eat well on a budget, and even some recipes from all over the world) and the more critical side of food (including a vegetarian travel guide and information for traveling diabetics). If you notice that it looks like we’ve forgotten something, please send us a note to let us know – it’s likely that we just haven’t had someone with that area of expertise come along and write about it yet. Why not be that person?
