Living Abroad Guide
For many people, traveling to foreign lands – even if you get to go somewhere new every year – isn’t enough. The simple knowledge that you’re on a trip, on a vacation, and that you’ll be returning “home” soon can make the very trip you’re supposed to be enjoying seem like a ticking time-bomb. So what’s the solution? Well, if you don’t want to become a permanent vagabond, then one option is to live abroad.
There are many options if you’re interested in settling into another country’s culture for more than a short period of time, and you don’t have to be independently wealthy to do it (although that sure helps)! Whether you’re moving abroad for work, with the military, with your family, for school, or for love, there are lots of things to think about when you’re becoming an expat. We’ve covered a few of them in this section, and we’ve also got some first-hand anecdotes from people who’ve made the jump. Please send us a note if you’d like to contribute your expat story to this section, or if you think there’s an area we’re missing in our coverage.
